Rotary club awards scholarships
FALLBROOK — The Rotary Club of Fallbrook steps up and helpslocal students each year through a variety of scholarship and loanprograms. One scholarship, for $5,000, is given to an AVID student.In addition, $500 awards are given to Ivy and Oasis High Schoolstudents.
A Rotary student loan program provides $6,000 to help studentscontinue their education. In addition, the club has contributed$41,700 to various causes in the community, throughout the UnitedStates and the rest of the world.
The major fund-raiser for the club is the steak and lobsterfest.This year’s is set for Sept. 10 at the Grand Tradition at 1602 S.Mission Road. The event will include entertainment and a live andsilent auction.
Local resident earns medical degree
FALLBROOK — Brandon Wayne Miller, son of Wayne Bea Miller andKathy Dee Miller of Fallbrook, was one of 203 medical students whor*cently received the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree fromThe University of Health Sciences In Kansas City.
He will complete a postdoctoral residency in family medicine atNaval Hospital Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla. He graduated fromFallbrook Union High School in 1993 and earned a bachelor ofscience degree in biology from San Diego State University in1997.
Class of 1969 plans 35th reunion
FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Union High School Class of 1969 willhave its 35th reunion July 16 through 18 at the Pala Casino Resortand Spa. Activities include an ice breaker July 16, brunch, golf,co*cktail party and dinner dance July 17 and farewell brunch July18.

Community center offering youth volleyball
FALLBROOK — Youth volleyball will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m.Mondays through Fridays July 12 through 16 at the FallbrookCommunity Center, 341 Heald Lane. The class is open to children 8through 14 and the maximumm enrollment is 12.
Students will work on basic skills, including passing, setting,hitting and serving. Instructor will be Annette Nielson.
